Ghanaian fastest rising reggae/dancehall recording music artiste Aligata, the “Wonshelele” hitmaker has emphatically said he uses “weed” and there has never been any negative impact on him, “I use marijuana everyday and i have never gone mad”.

Most people for the past years see anyone who smokes or uses marijuana as a criminal although these days most countries are accepting the use of it for medical, industrial and recreational purposes, African countries like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi have legalized the use of the herbs either private or commercial.

Last week the law of Ghana has also decriminalized marijuana use for only health and industrial purpose and when the news came many Ghanaians jubilated as well as some topnotch celebrities like Shatta Wale, Samini, Yaa Pono, Blakk Rasta among others.

Now just last Sunday 22nd March, in an exclusive phone-in interview between DJ Play and Aligata on Gaskiya FM (105.5)MHZ, the “Wonshelele” hitmaker also gave us his view on Ghana making marijuana legal in the country… according to the dancehall/reggae artiste, marijuana is a medicine and because the Whites couldn’t produce it as much as Africans were producing was the big reason they set a ban on it but now because they can produce more than Africans they are making it legal.

He said the whites encourage us to drink alcohol, smoke cigarette because they are producing it more than we the Africans, he further said what we need to know about the medical and industry benefits we will gain from the legalization of marijuana.

Aligata also revealed that in most of his songs he talks about marijuana or ganja and his fans always feel happy about it because they are all in the same shoe.

The legalization of marijuana is going to be a relief to all musicians as the Government promised about the one district one factory if not for the production of marijuana that can be on regular basis what else can the Government produce.

According to a report by Barclays Bank, its says ““We estimate that the total US cannabis market, if legalized today, could be worth $28 billion, increasing to $41 billion by 2028 on a pre-tax basis,” Barclays analysts say in a note. So now that it has finally been legalized it will surely boost our country’s economy.

Ghanaian music artistes like Samini, Blakk Rasta have always been looking forward to this news because as a farmer he also would like to venture into marijuana exportations.
